In this post, we present a brief overview of our recently published book chapter titled “The Effects of Humane Entrepreneurship on Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises’ Performance”
The pursuit of competitive advantage is increasingly assessed by the extent to which businesses engage in sustainable activities. In the 21st century, sustainability has become a central value within entrepreneurship. Sustainability orientation reflects a commitment to social progress aimed at fostering a more equitable and prosperous society, while preserving the natural environment and cultural heritage for future generations. It also encompasses the expansion of social wealth and responsiveness to societal needs.
The concept of sustainability orientation is grounded in corporate social responsibility (CSR). CSR refers to organisational actions and policies that take into account stakeholder expectations and the triple bottom line, which includes economic, social, and environmental performance. Furthermore, CSR embodies the voluntary integration of social and environmental concerns into business operations and stakeholder interactions.
